Waffle way is a new but not so new restaurant. Why new but not so new you might ask? Well, its because waffle way has existed for about five years now but under a different name ’waffle stop’. They recently rebranded and reopened under a new name ’waffle way’. They were honestly doing quite great as waffle stop and even had a branch in Kano but i’m sure the had their reasons for they change. At first i thought they were closed forever and i was honestly quite sad, they i realized they were just rebranding to come back better and i got excited again! I knew i had to stop by when they reopened and so i did!
Waffle way is located at 45 Gana St, Maitama 900271, Abuja. I visited on a sunday and their opening hours for Sunday’s are 12:00pm – 9:00pm. On the other days of the week, they open by 9:00am. They are open all through these hours to serve all day breakfast which is SUPER! because i could definitely eat breakfast all day! Scroll down to see the all new waffle experience i had.
Ambience
The restaurant ambiance is quite bright and vibrant. Its instantly puts you in a light mood. It gives the perfect eating out for breakfast vibe. It most definitely looks different from the old space. I love the popping orange color incorporated in the decor. The choice of chairs definitely utilizes the space very well. However, I’d say the chairs are quite low. The restaurant has a capacity of just a few people, probably like 20 at most but there’s more space outside which i think can be used for customers as well. The restaurant has a single bathroom for Convinence, nothing really fancy but definitely comes in handy.

The menu
First off, i absolutely love a menu that is graphic. The restaurant menu has pictures of different breakfast meals, kids meals, burgers and drinks. They serve different waffle varieties, including pancakes and french toast. The menu pricing is quite affordable and absolutely worth every bite. You can have a delicious breakfast meal and a nice hot/cold drink for N5,000 or less.

Waffles
Now let’s get down to the real juicy part of this review, WAFFLES! I don’t mean to sound dramatic but I’ve literally dreamt of these waffles and a part of me thought it has already been over hyped in my brain so it will end up basic but nahhh that didn’t happen. As a sweet girl, i instinctively went for a sweet waffle option as opposed to savory. However, i also got to try a bit of savory with the waffles and chicken. I ended up ordering chocolate waffles with vanilla ice cream, topped with oreo and strawberries & also the waffle combo meal.
Chocolate waffles with vanilla ice cream- NGN3,500
First off, the pancakes cost NGN3,500 and it comes with an option two free toppings and syrup choice. The additional ice cream costs NGN800 per scoop. While ordering this, what kept going through my mind was that it might be served thick and probably undone, maybe it might still be gooey inside because not many people know how to make chocolate waffles. When it was served, it looked pretty delicious and i hoped it would taste just as good. I absolutely LOVED IT! It wasn’t like anything i thought, it was perfect. it was warm, soft, perfectly done, not too sweet, and it had a little crisp at the edges which just blew my socks off. It was great and the topping/syrup paired perfectly with the chocolate waffles. I was so filled up i couldn’t finish it but i didn’t want to leave it because it was that good.

Waffle combo meal – NGN5,000
The waffle combo meal was a clash of sweet and savory. It was served with 2 pieces of delicious crispy fried chicken and maple syrup. The waffles were warm and tasty just like the chocolate waffles, i also loved that it was not too sweet at all. The chicken…well, it is hands down one of the best fried chicken i have ever had! It was very crispy and adequately seasoned, down to the bone. I really really enjoyed it!

Drinks
We ordered the iced coffee frapp and iced americano. I must say, they sure know how to work their magic with coffee.
Iced coffee frapp – NGN2,500
The iced coffee frapp was the best coffee anything i have ever had in Abuja. My inner spirit literally screamed after my first sip. It was that good. It tasted like an Oreo milkshake but, coffee. If not that i waddled away like a very fat penguin because my stomach was so filled, i definitely would have ordered some of it to go.

Iced Americano – NGN1,000
The iced americano was served with milk, just incase you don’t like it black which is great because i quite frankly prefer my coffee with milk. It tasted great both ways though. From the first sip you can taste the originality of the coffee used to prepare the drink and how rich the drink was. It was also not too sweet. It is a great option for people who do not enjoy a lot of sugar in their coffee drinks.

Total bill – NGN14,765 (including VAT and Service charge)
General review
The general service and food at waffle way was great. Their staff are properly trained, the food is very good, good wait time, neat and beautiful ambience and to top it off, it is affordable. I’m definitely going to become a regular at waffle way!
