Cafe flour is one of those old but gold places in Abuja. It is not one of the sizzling new hotspots because it has existed for a couple of years now but it definitely a place worth visiting. It is located at Cappador mall, opposite Yoruba mosque, Maitama Abuja, Nigeria. They offer a nice range of pastries and breakfast options which are served at their serene and very customer friendly environment. Ambience
The cafe ambience is instantly relaxing. It is clean, fresh and cozy. I loved how there were fresh flowers on the table. The cafe has large see though windows which really helped to light up the place. There was a wall that had picture frames filled with memories, that makes you feel like you are going through a time lapse. The prettiest part of the cafe was the counter. The counter has a display of different pastries and behind it was a pretty, beautifully decorated pink wall. One of the interesting things about the cafe is the books. Not only do they have free books for customers to read, they also have games, coloring books, puzzles and more. I really this great and unique feature about the cafe because it helps too keep you creatively engaged. The cafe is a great place for brunch, tea parties, dates and so much more. The outdoor space is a bit more chill. It features a lot of flowers and plants so its very cool. It is like an elevated balcony, so it gives a little view of the streets. They serve shisha outdoors and it seems like a great place to unwind.
Menu
The cafe menu features a lot of breakfast options, teas, drinks & salads. I must say, they have quite the variety of breakfast options that border on Nigerian and international tastes. The pricing is also very affordable and budget friendly.
Food
My oh my! The food was certainly delicious. We had pancakes, waffles, a sandwich and chips to go with it.
Pancakes – NGN3,000
From the description the the menu, the pancakes were just regular pancakes served with syrup but i think they must be mistaken because the pancakes are certainly beyond regular. It was beautifully served, obviously! beyond my expectation because i expected it to be very very basic. The pancakes were warm, soft and very fluffy. It was very filling because of how rich it was. You will need quite the appetite to finish the full 4 stacks of pancakes. Not to worry though, the have an alternative half stack option for N2,000.
Lotus pancakes – NGN4,000
Hmmmmm, no words! That was my first reaction. I had to drop my fork and think for a few seconds before continuing with the lotus pancakes. Now i have heard words and hype about these pancakes before going round but i was like ermmm i’m sure it will be ok. After that first bite i realized! it is way beyond ok. It is absolutely amazing! It is soft, warm and fluffy pancakes with layers of biscoff spread and crushed biscoff biscuits that is topped of with a heavy pour of melted biscoff spread and crushed biscoff biscuits. These pancakes are the TRUTH!! I’m just going to go ahead and stop myself with the descriptions so i won’t ruin it for those who haven’t tried it yet. Just know, i enjoyed it so much i went back some days later to eat it again. If you’re a pancake/Lotus biscoff lover, i definitely recommend.
Flour Crispy waffles – NGN4,000
I loved how the waffles were served. I enjoyed the waffles, although at some point it felt a bit unreal and plastic-ish. I don’t quite know how to adequately explain it. The chicken was very tasty and made a fantastic pair with the waffles. It was crispy, juicy and had adequate spice. I enjoyed the crispy chicken more than the waffles.
Smokey greasy groove sandwich – NGN3,500
The smokey greasy groove sandwich was just right. Average portion, affordable, nice plating, crunchy sandwich and tasty smoked chicken. The sandwich was just 2 slices of bread split into halves but i expected more really. The sandwich was also a bit flat, because it wasn’t ingredients packed. It just had smoked chicken and cheese. It wasn’t too flavorful and it wasn’t bad either.
Drinks
Frappuccino – NGN2,500
The Frappuccino was honestly disappointing. I mean, it was consumable but i expected better considering the quality of the food i had. It wasn’t cold at all, it was almost room temperature. The drink ingredients didn’t blend well so some parts were good and some parts weren’t. I hoped it was just a bad batch and gave them a pass because i enjoyed everything else. General Review
Cafe flour is definitely a great spot. I love their space, the food and customer service. The effort the put into the space especially during festivities is quite remarkable and i have definitely marked it as my go to spot for amazing pancakes. I look forward to visiting them again soon to try out pastries and other menu items.
