Hi there friends and lovers! It has been a hot minute since I dropped my last blog post and it really wasn’t intentional. I have been overwhelmed with pretty much every thing. I recently checked out the newly revamped Zone cafe restaurant with one of my favourite Abuja food/bloggers Uchey (@thelifestylegal_).
Zona cafe is a restaurant that has been in Abuja for a while now. It is located at NO 32 Kumasi Crescent Wuse 2, Abuja. Initially, they had a really cute and attractive cafe space that captured the hearts of so many when they launched. They had a lot of people trooping in when they launched because of their attractive space but I was never one of them. Mainly because it just seemed too cliche the time and I had zero to no expectations of their food. I noticed they went a bit MIA after a while which wasn’t really a shock to me because I kinda predicted it.
About a month ago, I noticed a few changes to their online presence and I noticed a whole new space and Instantly got intrigued! I knew I just had check it out and see what they’ve got going on.
The newly revamped zone cafe is artistic, beautiful and very full of vibe. Scroll down to read all about my date with Uchey and our experience of at the cafe.
Ambience
The ambience at the cafe is absolutely intriguing! It features a nice and very artistic ambience. I absolutely loved the murals on the wall. Each angle of the cafe Is a work of art and you cannot help but stare. The LED lights gave the space a warm look which is absolutely grate to experience but not really the best lighting for pictures which is a bit of a turn off considering the fact that we live in a time where all people wanna do is take pictures (I am people…lol).
The restaurant space is quite big and can conveniently take up to 50 people, however I do not think they have enough chairs for that. There’s a lot of room to move freely without being in people’s faces and a bit of privacy to an extent. The restaurant also features a single bathroom for convenience.
Although they currently have no outdoor space, the indoor space is quite adequate and very beautiful. My favourite spot at the cafe has to be the part with the mural wearing glasses and having paint gushing out of it. I absolutely love it!

Menu
The restaurant menu is quite brief honestly. I mean not in it’s entirety, but the food options are limited. The menu features a couple of breakfast options, burgers/sandwiches, pastas and grills. The drinks menu however has a vast amount of options, especially cocktails. They may have just gone ahead to re-name the place ‘Zona bar & grills’.

Food
Like I mentioned earlier, we didn’t have a lot of options when it came to food so we just ordered a burger meal and pasta. Uchey ordered the Zona Highway Man Burger and I ordered the Spaghetti Bolognese.
Spaghetti Bolognese – N5,000
The spaghetti was beautifully served, with a cute little tomato designed as a rose and some celery at the top. The dish was served smoking hot which definitely made it more enjoyable. The pasta was finely made and the sauce had the right proportions ingredients. It wasn’t too spicy and also wasn’t tasteless as well. The meal portion was fair to be honest. It wasn’t too small and it certainly wasn’t too much either. All in all, I really enjoyed my meal.

Zona Highway Man Burger – N5,500
The highway man burger is truly deserving of it’s name. The first thing to note about it is the uniqueness of the bun. I thing it was toasted on both sides. I’m still yet to figure out if they made their own burger bun or its just a regular bun toasted to look that way. It was filled with cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, fried egg, a beef patty and mayonnaise sauce. It was served with a portion of fries and ketchup and it was just as beautifully plated as the spaghetti bolognese.
I had a taste of the burger and it was very juicy and tender. I loved every bit of it and it definitely made one of the highlights of my visit. The portion is adequate and honestly worth the price

Drinks
For drinks, I ordered a Virgin Daiquiri – N3,000 and Uchey ordered Pink lady – N3,000.
The Virgin Daiquiri was basically blended strawberries (frozen) and lime juice. It was definitely a hit! I feel like a strawberry daiquiri is one drink you can’t go wrong with both as the restaurant making it and the person making it. If you order a daiquiri from a restaurant and it tastes bad, your next move should be to run because the food will most likely tase bad as well. I absolutely loved it and Ucey the queen of daiquiri’s also enjoyed it too.
The Pink lady drink was made up of strawberry yoghurt, apple juice, cranberry juice and grenadine. I didn’t really get a taste of it but she said it was really really nice. I look forward to trying it out when next I visit.

General review
Zona cafe and grill have really come a long way from their old space to this new one right here. Looking beyond the space, they have done well with their menu, pricing and service as well. I am actually impressed and I had a great experience. I truly hope that they are able to keep up with the new standards and maybe even do much better in the future.
