La Tarvena restaurant is one that is not new to the city of Abuja. It has been around for a while now and is famously known for delicious pasta and taco dishes. It is a rooftop vintage, Spanish restaurant Located on the 5th floor of statement hotel in Central Business district Abuja. The restaurant was formerly headed by South African Chef Thabo Phake but most recently it is headed by Chef Padre. It is quite commendable that the switch of executive chefs did not alter the food standard of the restaurant.
The restaurant is open everyday for dine in and take out from 11:00am to 11:00pm. They have amazing offers worth checking out on Tuesday’s, Wednesday’s, Thursday’s and Friday’s.
Ambience
The most prominent thing about La Tarvena Ambience is that it is very peaceful. The restaurant has a very unique and relaxing vibe. It is very neat, quiet and exquisite. There’s something about the restaurant that makes you feel at home. I love the vibrant restaurant colours and Woden textures. It is almost as if you’ve teleported into a vintage Spanish city.
The indoor space has a vintage but sophisticated contemporary look, whereas the outdoor space is more relaxed and less formal.
Menu
The restaurant has a food and drinks menu. The food menu has a vast majority of Spanish dishes which are reasonably priced in my opinion. There are no Nigerian dishes on the menu which is actually great because I love a good restaurant that sticks to it’s theme/essence.
The drinks menu offers a variety of wines and cocktails with only a few mocktails and other non-alcoholic options.
Service
The service at the restaurant was the one thing I wasn’t so impressed about. The staff seemed quite clueless and absent minded. Although they were somewhat friendly and nice, It seemed to me like they were not familiar or uninterested in doing their jobs. The executive chef literally had to point out what they had to do and when they had to do it.
Food & Drink
At the restaurant, we were served with complimentary bread and salsa while we waited for our food. We ordered Spaghetti arrabiatta with chicken + shrimps, Lamb taco and croquettas de Jamon. For drinks we just had water and a glass of strawberry smash mocktail.
Everything we ordered and tried at the restaurant were effortlessly delicious. The pasta was perfect. The tacos had a burst of delicious flavour and it was fully packed with tasty fillings. I sincerely did not expect to enjoy the croquettas as much as I did but I absolutely loved them. Every bite was simply divine!
I enjoyed my strawberry smash drink, but wished it had come in a bigger glass.

La Tarvena restaurant is amazing. If you’re a love of quality dishes and a good ambience you will definitely fall in love with the restaurant. It is perfect for romantic dates, proposals, and mini events.
